UK-based visual poets come together for a unique show at the first international exhibition of Poem Atlas
Poem Atlas presents its first international exhibition TEXT-ISLES, an exhibition of visual poetry featuring a range of innovative poets that examines materiality through the lens of text and textiles. Although wide-ranging in approach, the work produced as part of this show could be broadly characterised as a collection of material or sculptural poems, in which materiality, texture and movement are harnessed to retell, reimagine, and reorient our relationship to the environment and materials that stratify us.
The show will take place at the leafy Art Park Gallery in Rhodes, Greece and features some of the UK’s most exciting contemporary poets, including Susie Campbell, E.J. Coates, Madelaine Culver, Jade Cuttle, SJ Fowler, Alexis Fedorjaczenko, Geneviève Grant-Thompson, Storm Greenwood, Caroline Harris, Paul Hawkins, Briony Hughes, James Knight, Stephen Mooney, Martina O’Shea, Astra Papachristodoulou, Vilde B. Torset, Simon Tyrrell, Nadira Clare Wallace and Maria Wigley. A celebratory launch event took place on September 18th (3pm), and featured readings from Stephen Mooney, Simon Tyrrell and Astra Papachristodoulou as well as live music by Afrodite Papachristodoulou and Christos Anthoulas. Free entrance for all.
